    ProAdventure Tentipi Gatherings and Camps

Tentipi camps have been popular in Europe for many years, where a like minded bunch of people, who have a common love of camping in their Tentipi Tents, get together to socialise, play and have a good weekend.

ProAdventure held the UK's first Tentipi Camp in April 2015 on the banks of the River Dee, attended by over 60 people. There were bushcraft activities, canoeing and plenty of opportunity to talk around the campfire.
Our 2016 camp, held in the Welsh borders was just as popular with old friends and new enjoying the scenery and activities offered by our campsite hosts at Underhill Farm.

We aim to make every camp a little bit different and we are learning as we go. Our first camp this year is at Carrog on the River Dee from 5th to 7th May. We would love to invite you along if you have your own Tentipi and if you are interested in buying Tentipi we have a few Tipis for hire but be quick as they go fast. Either way you will need to book (see below)
  • Tentipi Camp 2017 May 5-7th and September 8-10

Booking is at the foot of this page. Book online or call us on 01978 860605. Adults are £25 each and under 16's are free. We will contact you once we have your booking to confirm details, numbers of children and tipi requirements

The camp starts on Friday and our campsite is West of Llangollen at Carrog. We will be setting up from midday and campers will be welcome to set up their own Tipis or help us put up their hire tipi anytime after 2pm. The campsite is flat and well looked after so pitching should be easy and family friendly. This is a regular campsite open to the public so has toilet and shower facilities shared but we are in a private field for the event.

This is a low key event and we usually expect around 40 or 50 participants so crowds wont be a problem. There will be a kids play tipi all weekend which is not supervised but will have kid friendly activities such as sandpit, colouring, diablos and juggling kit.

We will have a get together round the campfire in the evening for fika (thats Swedish parlance for coffee and cake) and a chance to get to know everyone. Being a family friendly camp we appreciate that kids need their sleep so will try to keep things quiet after 11pm

Theres plenty to do in the local area and you are welcome as a participant to go and do your own thing or to join us for events on and off site. The camp site has access to the river Dee so if you wish to canoe at the site this is possible and the water is calm here.* There is no access to fishing at the site. There is a small gravel beach a short walk away and we will walk down there on Sunday for a teddy bears picnic.

Carrog is on the Llangollen Steam Railway so if you wish to catch the train into Llangollen and back you are only two minutes walk away from the Station. In the opposite direction, the railway now extends to Corwen where there are shops and cafes and a swimming pool. We are planning a walk from the campsite in the direction of Corwen to Caer Drewyn which is an ancient hill fort with great views over the valley.

There will be someone on the site at all times and we will be running activities such as whittling and firelighting and there will be chance to play with some of our demo stock such as dutch ovens, firebowls and our Sante Freden reflector ovens. We will have all the sizes of Tentipi available to view and in pride of place will be the new Zirkonflex 15

We will be firing up our new Uuni3 pizza Oven on Saturday evening for you to make your own pizzas. The Uuni was recommended by our customers so we cant wait to try it. We will have the ovens in stock to buy at and after the event for £199.

We also have a special guest for the weekend. Fennel Hudson who writes a blog and has several books on countryside living will be there with his family and will be giving a talk on Saturday evening. He worked for several years as head of communications for Vodaphone worldwide but has taken a different path in life now to pursue his writing and countryside interests. If anyone would like to challenge his record for boiling up a storm kettle in double quick time they would be welcome. You may remember seeing an article he wrote on choosing and buying his Tentipi Safir which will ring bells and cause a chuckle with most who have gone through that process.

The village of Carrog has a lovely pub called The Grouse which overlooks the campsite and serves great food so if you dont want to cook theres no reason but we recommend you book, especially for Saturday evening.

Sunday morning will be a lazy affair with plenty of time to talk to staff and fellow campers about their experiences and pack up by late afternoon after a picnic by the river. Campers are welcome to stay longer by separate arrangement with the site owners.

Your camping fee includes campsite fees, tipi hire with floor where paid, coffee and cake on Friday night, campfires both nights, talk, Caer Drewyn walk, kids play tipi, whittling and firelighting sessions, use of the pizza oven to make your own and tasters of ours and experts on hand to help and advise.

Your fee doesnt include food (other than coffee, cake and pizza samples), camping and cooking equipment or bedding, tentipi stove or innertent, anything not listed,

All activities are changeable to suit staff availability, weather and other variables.

We would love you to come and join us if you would like to experience Tentipi living. Booking is below
