“Approx 5,000 items of marine plastic pollution have been found per mile of beach in the UK. With an average of 150+ bottles per mile.”
Since we first opened for business in 1991, at ProAdventure we have always been conscious of the environmental choices we make. ProAdventure began as an outdoor adventure training company, so looking after our planet is very important to us. Over the years we have shifted the business over to outdoor equipment retail, and our choices, now more than ever, have a huge effect on the environment.
We however are not the only business in Llangollen that have a real passion for the town and the environment. Plastic Free Llangollen (PFL) was set up to reduce the amount of single use plastic in the area and bring businesses, visitors and residents together with the goal of bringing plastic free status to the town.
So far PFL has established 10 water refill points within the town and signed 23 businesses up to help reduce waste in the town. From pasta straws to paper tape and everything in between the town is well on its way to becoming plastic free.
On 19th August we held a coffee morning (which went on all day) to raise money for Surfers Against Sewage on behalf of PFL. All the coffee was made with my Nanopresso and the feedback was outstanding; it really is the best portable espresso machine on the planet! We managed to raise some money too, which will go along to helping our town remain clean.
We also held a raffle for some sweet Klean Kanteen bottles and flasks kindly donated by Whitby & Co. Klean Kanteen support Surfers Against Sewage and are a 1% For The Planet member. Congrats to Kieran, Matilda and Roger on winning the raffle!
Thank you to all of our customers who came in and supported us. This definitely won’t be the last coffee morning at ProAdventure.
