2022 Llangollen Tentipi Camp Wed 4th - Sun 8th May

A relaxed weekend camping for Tentipi owners on the banks of the River Dee in Llangollen. Chill by the campfire and share food, experiences and tips with like minded people. Try axe-throwing, go for a walk, do yoga....or not. No pressure, just fun

It's been a couple of years but we are ready to welcome Tentipi owners from near and far to join us in Llangollen for our 2022 camp. We will be setting up camp on Wednesday 4th May and chatting to folk as they arrive and set up throughout Thursday and Friday. Come and join us.

We always have the Zirkonflex up with the fire-bowl and coffee on the go and one of us available for a natter. On Friday evening there will be cake, we have axe-throwing on Sunday a storyteller booked for Saturday evening and a yoga session one morning for the keen. We will take a walk up Llangollen's famous Castell Dinas Bran for a picnic one day and a flatter walk along the canal to the pub on another. Activities will be mostly over the weekend so if you can’t come for the full four days you won’t miss out. Activities and timings may change but that gives you an idea.

If you have a craft or hobby that you can share with others you would be more than welcome to bring that along. We have had people share felting, weaving and even catapult shooting. If I am feeling brave I will run a sourdough bread session so if you had a go during lockdown you can probably show me a thing or two and we can make some dutch oven sourdough in the firebowl.

There is lots to do off site too if you want to do your own thing. Offa's Dyke and other local walks, swimming in the river, canoeing on the canal and on the river for experienced paddlers, the steam railway, shops and restaurants in the town and the canal towpath is ideal for biking. There’s a small museum and a few ancient monuments too. there are activity providers in town who can take you rafting and other wild adventures. We recommend prebooking. Bearded Men Adventures is one and Whitewater Active is another good provider.

The site is ours for the weekend and is less than a mile walk into Llangollen town. It’s a flat site with a new and very nice toilet/shower block and hook ups if needed. (payable to site owner separately) Our numbers are limited to under 100 so its a small and relaxed camp without bars, bands and loud music although if you play guitar and want to entertain us that would be fabulous and completely in the spirit. We did have a double bass one year! Fires and stoves are allowed off ground and kiln dried wood is available on site for £6 a bag. Well behaved dogs on leads are allowed. There may be sheep and cows in adjacent fields

The price paid includes pitch fees for all nights booked for up to 2 adults and 2 children (extra children £10, under 3 free), shower and toilet facilites, activities coffee and cake mentioned. This is not a money making event for us and rarely breaks even but we love doing it and sharing our knowledge. If there is any spare money we will be planting trees with it. You can come for just the weekend or add on Wednesday and Thursday nights too to extend your stay. Those who want to stay on for longer can do that through the campsite directly.

(Please contact us direct if you want to try Tentipi and would like to hire a tipi for this weekend).

Further details will be sent out to participants a couple of weeks beforehand but we are always happy to answer questions in the meantime.

  • can you please give an idea of the distance from the Tipi camp to the loo facilities
Question asked by Peter and Julie Wade on Apr 17 2022 12:44PM
The closest pitches are around 20m from the loo, you should be able to park pretty much next to your tent. Just let us know when you book please.
