The open canoe is one of the best forms of transport available to go for a journey in, mainly due to its versatility. You get close to nature, even closer to the best views in the world, and get to travel at your own pace. This the trip thats about the journey and the camping not just about the skills.
Course Description You can paddle it solo or tandem, if you don't want to paddle it you can pole it, sail it, move it by ropes and even carry it. Because of this, our choice of journeys available for a weeks holiday is fairly diverse. Where do you fancy going? Across Scotland via the Caledonian Canal? Go from mountains to the sea along the river Spey. Maybe soak up the southern French sun in the Ardeche Gorges. or a nice bimble down the River Severn or the River Wye DetailsThe aims of our canoe journeying holidays are pretty much summed up by the title. We want to take you on a journey of relaxing travel, learning new skills, camping out of your canoe and pretty much getting as close to nature as we can. Binoculars, bird books, cooking over fires and generally leaving the civilised sanitised world behind. These trips can be as basic as you like - Tarps, hammocks and filtered water while cooking over your own made fire, or we can take along the lovely Tipi's, gas stoves and plan multi pot meals etc. Thats the beauty of these trips, pretty much anything is possible.
Perhaps my favourite recent memory of these trips is sitting in my hammock, watching the river spey flow past and smelling roast vegetables and pork shoulder joints cooking on my fire. Ok possibly the best memory is the taste of those honey glased roasted vegetables mixed with wood smoke!!
Travelling and living out of a canoe is possibly one of the best ways to relax for your holiday. Sometimes the weather isnt perfect and sometimes the rivers are a little higher, but having to work hard during the day, makes the camping in the evening even better!
