This is a six week course during which we will teach you physical skills in a variety of outdoor sports, gaining various national governing body (NGB) awards. Along with these skills we will show you the techniques of instructing and leading groups in the outdoors along with what you need to work in an outdoor centre. Link these all together and you’re in the perfect place to gain Instructor qualifications and look at a career in the outdoors. This sixteen week course aims to set you up with the technical skills in a variety of outdoor sports and the coaching knowledge to enable you to directly gain employment in outdoor centres or work as a freelance instructor. The length of the course allows us to develop your natural skills and hone you into an outdoor professional, this covers your technical performance in each sport, but also the science behind coaching these sports. We work on canoeing, kayaking, climbing, mountain biking, gorge walking, mountain walking, bushcraft and team building as the core activities that you need to know. These will then be put to the test throughout the course, by leading “guinea Pig” groups on real activities. National governing body (NGB) skills awards will be assessed throughout the course. At the end of the course NGB instructor assessments will take place.
