The course starts each day at our activity centre on Parade Street in Llangollen (see map below) at 9:00am and finishes at around 4:30pm. The content of the course follows the UKCC level 2 core theory module looking at :-

The course is a balance between classroom theory and on the water practical. So the kit that you bring with you needs to reflect this. Also a note book, pens and a camera is essential. We try to be outside as much as possible throughout this course even when doing theory.

The practical side of the course is very much based around plan do review, and observe and try. So every one will get multiple goes at teaching throughout the course and get chances to observe and critique everyone else’s sessions.

What to bring

As well as the above, you will need to bring the following:

• Thermal or fleece layers for underneath wet/drysuits.

• Suitable footwear – wetsuit boots (with a solid sole) or an old pair of trainers

• Suitable outdoor clothing and footwear (non-paddling)

• Hat and gloves

• Water bottle and/or thermal flask

• Waterproof jacket and trousers

• Swimwear

• Notebook and pens

• Packed lunches

We will be providing all necessary paddling equipment, but if you’d prefer to bring your own kit then please feel free.

Don’t forget your personal medication, especially if you are asthmatic, diabetic or epileptic, and tell us of any notable medical conditions.
